AP European History: Historical Film Analysis Option

Welcome to AP European History! Our main focus this year will be on Europe from the Renaissance to the present. Europe has an amazing and diverse history and you will be surprised at the tremendous amount of influence it has had on the entire world. Some of the most renowned art & music, influential thinkers & politicians, and decadent castles & cathedrals are contrasted by some of the world's bloodiest & most brutal wars & weapons, not to mention ruthless despots. European history has a bit of something for everyone - I look forward to a fun and exciting year with you!

You may choose to watch and analyze a historical film from a time period that we covered each quarter.

After watching the film, type the following:

1. A 1- paragraph summary (in your OWN WORDS) of the movie’s plot

2. A 3-paragraph historical analysis that answers the following:
a. What is happening in Europe beyond the movie?

b. How does the historical context help you understand what is happening in the movie?

c. What happens in the movie that is historically inaccurate? Why do you think director made those changes?(This will involve some outside research, I recommend you use the Internet) Be sure to cite your source.

3. Did you like the movie? Why or why not?
